Kate O'Sullivan

Vocalist, Performer, Story Teller: Versatile, Passionate, Experienced

Kate has had an impressive and diverse career, training under Mary Branagan and Grahame McIntosh. Her journey includes performing with the Sydney Philharmonia Choir from 1983 to 1986, as well as with the Australian Opera in Turandot. She’s also sung in iconic venues like the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Football Stadium, performing in grand works like Verdi’s Requiem, Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, and Aida. Over the years, Kate has also worked with the Blue Mountains Opera Events, performing major roles in operas like The Magic Flute, The Tales of Hoffman, and The Marriage of Figaro.

Kate’s opera roles are extensive, including performances as Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana, Flora in La Traviata, and Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto. She’s also taken on many roles in Gilbert and Sullivan operas with Dundas West UCMS, Eastwood UCMS, and Opera Events, such as Katisha in The Mikado and Ruth in Pirates of Penzance. Her recent performances have included the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, as well as appearing in The Rose of Persia and Andrea Chenier. Kate’s passion for opera also extends beyond the stage, as she’s performed for the Jewish community at Temple Emanuel and presented concerts featuring both opera and Gilbert and Sullivan songs.

One of Kate’s proudest achievements was being invited to perform in The Water Babies, a new professional work that premiered in 2016 at the Seymour Centre. She also participated in the Sydney Fringe Festival in 2019, bringing her talent to the ACA Theatre. Kate’s journey continues, and she’s excited to tackle the challenge of singing in Cavalleria Rusticana in its original Italian language.
